• Social Media Marketing

web designWhat is Social Media?

Social Media describes the technologies that enable conversations on the Internet. In the context of business, social media can mean ways that online conversations can be prompted, promoted and monetized. Why is this important? Because people are talking about your company, your products and maybe even you. You can't stop them either. That's the bad news.

The good news is, if you've got a great product or service, and are looking for customers, you want people talking about you. Even if you can't control the conversations, you can at least familiarize yourself with the tools that enable conversations online. With these tools you can influence those conversations.

Social Media Marketing is basically the activities, practices and behaviors amongst groups of people who meet online to share information, knowledge, and their opinions. Their means of sharing is via web-based applications such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Stubleupon and Digg.

Social Media Marketing Primer

There are literally hundreds of social media-enabled communities on the web. Before diving head-first into the social media ocean, it is important for you to understand how each technology/community functions. Then, you should find your niche and develop a strategy for introducing your product or service and calculating your social media return on investment.
